The past few weeks I have not been a good blogger.
4 weeks ago today I had back surgery. I had a laminectomy and a discectomy. I had a ruptured disc that was causing lots of problems! And it is still causing problems, just different problems. I have NO pain in my legs! Yahoo! My back pain is better, but still aches a bit when I bend, twist or sleep. However, I am 80% better! :-)
I was down for a week and then once I was able to drive again I could only lift 5 lbs. and I could not go into the pool. So...step 1: Teach Cole how to get in the car and his car seat by himself. Check!
Step 2: Take it easy! NOT that easy! I am working on it though.
Step 3: Be patient. Again...still working on this!
The boys came to visit me in the hospital! It was great! At least they did not see me in pain...I was on a morphine pump! Ahhh- it was AWESOME! Except I did not sleep at all in the hospital. Well...I may have fallen asleep around 10:30-12- Midnight. Then...it started...I had to go potty and of course since I was hooked up to an IV so I had to call them to help me. Then...again at 1:00 a.m. Then I could not fall asleep. THANK goodness Chad brought the laptop. Then they came in to check vitals at 4:00 a.m. ....still awake! Then my doctor's PA came in at 6:00 a.m. and my Neurosurgeon at 6:30 a.m. They took my pump out and gave me a pain pill at 7:00 a.m. Chad came around 9 a.m.-ish and I was free to go! :-) Of course...not before I had my breakfast I ordered before him and the boys came up to the hospital. I had bacon, orange juice, and gosh I can't remember...I will just blame the pain pills. Speaking of pain pills...The day I came home on Wednesday, I can not remember a thing! It's all a blur. All I know is I believe I slept most of the day.

The week I had surgery my dad came down for the weekend and it was Cayden's last t-ball game and his T-ball picnic and awards party.
I should have been the one sleeping...those are my pain pills. ;-)
We had fun watching Cayden play baseball his favorite thing to do and he was so excited to show GG!
However...this weekend we also found something else out...Cole is highly allergic to mosquitos or something. He had a horrible reaction to bites. We all got all bit up outside, but Cole's eyes were swollen, his forehead and his bridge of his nose and his leg. So off to After-Hours Pediatrics we went Satuday morning. Then...they sent us to Children's Mercy because they wanted to make sure it was just from a bite and not something else. CM said it was most likely a reaction to the bites. So a dose of benydryl at CM and some antibiotic cream on his bites and off we went to go home. His swelling took a few days to go down, but he is better now. So bug spray was bought the next day and now I am super careful with him at dusk and outside. I am afraid that next time could be worse.
Here are some pictures of my poor little man.
Then Chad went to Detroit for work and was gone on our Anniversary. And...Swim lesson s started at Gardner Aquatic Center. Cayden LOVED them! He did awesome! I am so proud of him! He passed
Fins 1 and is able to go to Fins 2 next summer.

| A note from Cayden's swim instructor on his 'report' for swim lessons. |
This week we went up to school every day after swim lessons, good thing it was kind of cool and rainy out so the boys did not care! In fact they had a blast. Cayden loves playing on PBS kids on my computer and Cole either draws all over with dry-erase markers or plays on the iPAD.
I am changing my theme and having fun making stuff. I still have a lot to do, but here's a sneak peek and pictures of Cayden and Cole having fun.
Yes...I know these are not exactly completely straight, but I wasn't about to fix it with Mr.Iamgoingtotakethingsoffyourwall kid. aka: Cole.
Wooden crates covered with fabric...Not done pretty, but at least if you look from a far you can't see the staples. I used a staple gun...and it worked GREAT!
But...the following weekend we met Mooma and Poopa in Des Moines and they took the boys and we went to Omaha for the Dierks concert and a weekend without kids. Friday night we really partied it up! We went to dinner and then a movie. Then Saturday we went to the gym. I am really glad Chad pushed me. I went on the treadmill for 55 minutes and up'd the incline and walked fast. It was tough, but it was not 'back' painful. Then I went on the stair master for 15 minutes, again not easy...but....did not hurt my back.

| Two goofballs... |
Remember I had 3 steps? Be patient...Since I have not been able to 'workout' or do as much as I could before during the past few months I have started to gain weight. For those of you who know me, know I do not have this problem. It's new to me and it is really upsetting me. As soon as I can move around more I plan on working hard to drop the lbs. Although I think it is easier said than done.
We had a great weekend, but I was happy to see the boys.
Monday we had to do our grocery shopping since we didn't do it over the weekend. The boys were my helpers! And...while we were at Wal-Mart I thought well we are here, we might as well get school supplies too. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be or...maybe everything was on sale. I let Cayden pick out his scissors...of course he chose green! I even got to get Cole school supplies for his new daycare. His school supply list was very similar to Caydens' list.
Tuesday was a HOT day, so off to the pool we went. We had a lot of fun and at least we were able to stay cool in the pool! Cayden jumped off the side for the first time by himself. (well with the help of monster floatie) I am trying to get him to swim without it, but I have not succeeded yet.
Cole was wanting me to 'take picture' of him so he could say CHEESE! I love this kid! He cracks me up! He has such a sense of humor for a 2 year old.
15 days until I officially go back to work. I am going to make the best of the next 15 days...Going to the pool and hanging out with the boys. I will have to go into work here and there, but hope that most of my stuff is pretty much done or will not take very long to do.
So...here's to the 15 more days of summer!
